“Startup generator” Antler funds 2 new startups from Nairobi programme - Disrupt Africa

Global startup generator Antler has announced pre-seed investments in two startups created during its second programme in Nairobi, Kenya last year.

Antler, a global early-stage venture capital (VC) firm, launched in Kenya in May 2019. Through its six-month programme, the firm brings together exceptional individuals from across the world and connects them with a top tier network of advisors and experts to help them launch innovative tech startups.

The company last February announced investments in four startups from its first programme, and it has now added another two portfolio companies from its second edition. The programme began in March 2020, with 30 individuals accepted from more than 1,800 applicants.

Over the first two months of the six-month programme, these individuals formed 12 teams, and Antler has now announced the two teams that have formed fully-fledged startups and received a pre-seed investment of US$100,000.

The first of these companies is Cooked, a meal kit provider that uses innovative technology to transform the way consumers search for, shop for, and cook food at home. Cooked is an on-demand and subscription-based meal kit company that offers new and varying recipes with pre-measured, perfectly portioned ingredients sourced directly from suppliers leading to reduced food waste delivered straight to your home.

The second company is Uncover, a “one stop shop for skincare”, availing knowledge and products from Korea to revolutionise the skincare experience in Africa. Disrupt Africa reported on its launch here.
